Il y a des maisons d’eau douce qui ne flottent que dans la secousse d’une houle nerveuse. Péniche a pris les courants troubles du post punk instrumental pour dire sans les mots l’urgence, l’amour et la camaraderie. Les tumultes de leur tempête savent laisser une place précieuse à l’émotion des plages post-rock, sorte de préparation lacrymale au bazar salvateur. Bande son d’un trio qui préférera toujours la haute mer aux ports de plaisance, Péniche c’est beau comme une vague frappant la falaise ou un but à la 90ème.

There are freshwater houses that only float in the jolt of a nervous swell. PÉNICHE have taken to the turbulent currents of instrumental post-punk to speak without words of urgency, love and camaraderie. The tumult of their storm leaves precious room for the emotion of post-rock tracks, a sort of tearful preparation for the salvific bazaar. The soundtrack of a trio that will always prefer the high seas to marinas, PÉNICHE is as beautiful as a wave hitting the cliff or a goal in the 90th minute.

Le power trio puise son inspiration dans la nostalgie des cours de récré, des émissions télévisées bon marché et une bonne dose de cynisme post-Reagan pour livrer des morceaux de rock saccadés et bruyants, rappelant Devo, Wire, Sonic Youth et Deerhoof, qui ne semblent pas trop loin dans le rétroviseur. Et vous conduisez la vieille Honda Civic pourrie de votre cousin, en rêvant que ce soit une DeLorean filant sous la voie lactée.

The power trio feeds on playground nostalgia, cheap TV programs and a good dose of post-Reagan cynicism to bring some jerky and raucous pieces of rock music that feel like Devo, Wire, Sonic Youth & Deerhoof ain’t standing too far in the rear mirror. And you’re driving your old cousin’s shitty Honda Civic, but you wish it were a DeLorean flying under the milky-way.
