Video: Fritz Wülfing represents the dream of craft brewing in Bonn, Germany.
From the archetypical garage while holding down a full time job as a process engineer, to using other facilities as drinkers urged him to increase production, to Ale-Mania, Fritz Wülfing represents the dream of craft brewing in Bonn, Germany.
An internship at the former Schultheis brewery in Weißenthurm in 1988 sparked the passion and he moved on to inspiration by the UK and the US craft brewers, especially when US rules were relaxed to allow home brewing and later on, brewpubs. His core range is a wide mix including pils, pale ale, IPAs, red Ale and gose as he expands his expertise.
Wülfing has been selling his beer commercially since 2010 and founded Ale-Mania in 2015. He does the brewing part-time but wants to grow so it becomes his full time job. Why brew? “Because it’s fun,” he says. The name ‘Ale-Mania Bonn‘ that he uses indicates bigger ambitions.
