Breandán Kearney of Belgian Smaak and photographer Ashley Joanna talked to the Beer Idiots about their just released book Hidden Beers of Belgium, an insightful look at 24 beers and their brewers.
For this they travelled across Belgium over three years, uncovering as well the diverse heritage of traditional and more modern styles being brewed in the country.
The launch event on 19 September was held at Belgian Brewers and featured many of the brewers featured in the book.
It features 24 profiles of craft beers with tasting notes and descriptions of the brewery and the team behind the recipes. The book is sectioned into Thirst crushers, Acid test, Wolf pack and Fungus kingdom, as a way of categorising the beers according to taste and style.
