At Wanderlust 2021, Brussels Beer Project co-founder Sébastien Morvan talked with the Beer Idiots about the brewery’s new, larger installation in Anderlecht and their plans for the future.
Morvan and the other co-founder, Olivier de Brauwere, are like “kids in a candy shop”, now that they will have full control of their production, he said. They plan to open the new brewery and beer garden on 8 December.
Their current headquarters at Antoine Dansaert will remain as a site for experimental brews, and sour and barrel-aged beers. The new brewery at Bassin de Biestebroeck, right on the canal, will have a production capacity of up to 10 million bottles. The last fermentation tanks arrive by canal on 14 September.
The capacity will be enough for them to integrate all of BBP’s production, part of which is brewed by Anders in Halen. The site also has a 900 sq. m. beer garden overlooking the canal and bike path.

This year they also opened their second bar in July at the former Irish pub Michael Collins on Rue du Bailli in Ixelles.
It is their eight year of brewing as BBP and they celebrated the anniversary at Wanderlust 2021, with a return to Place Sainte Catherine (Vismet) for the festival. Brussels Beer Project was founded by calling on drinkers to “Leave the abbey, join the playground” and many of the brewers at the festival have done collaborations with the brewer.
Pouring from the taps were À Tue-Tête from Switzerland, Schneeule/Analog from Germany, Ārpus Brewing from Latvia, Brussels Beer Project, Dok Brewing from Ghent, Jackie O’s from the USA, Juguetes Perdidos from Argentina, Kaapse Brouwers from the Netherlands, La Source from Brussels, Misery Beer from Aywaille, Peninsula from Spain, Pohjala from Estonia and Totenhopfen from Luxembourg. The two-day festival finished on 12 September.
